About the role
Required immediately, our Winnipeg Branch is seeking a Full-Time Staff Accountant to join the team. FLOFORM Countertops is a Canadian company with its head office in Winnipeg, MB and has 16 branches and 5 manufacturing facilities located in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. FLOFORM manufactures, sells and installs over 20,000 premium surface countertops a year. Established in 1961, FLOFORM is proud to be one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.
POSITION SUMMARY: Working with a high degree of independence, the Staff Accountant applies the principles, theories and concepts of accounting to daily tasks. Prepares, analyzes and interprets journal entries, accounts and financial statements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional Accounting Designation required or close to completing
- Sound business acumen
- Advanced computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, and the ability to learn other software programs
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to handle challenging situations with diplomacy and respect
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to solve problems as they arise
- Microsoft Dynamics experience an asset
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare monthly journal entries and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts
- Assist in monthly financial statements preparation
- Reconciliation of monthly bank statements
- Ensure internal procedures and policies are being followed by all branch representatives
- Solid GAAP understanding and financial analysis and variance explanations
- Other duties of a similar nature as required
