Starting Salary Range: $52,000 - $54,000 annually. This is the starting salary range for this role and may vary based on internal equity, and a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Over and above the base salary and the benefits highlighted above, this position is also eligible for an incentive bonus of up to 5% of the annual salary.

Position Summary

Tourism Whistlers’ Travel Trade, Market Development team works with third party trade partners (i.e., Tour Operators, Travel Agents, and Online Travel Agencies [OTA’s]) to drive overnight visits from key markets of Australia, UK, Germany, Mexico, United States, and Canada.

Reporting to the Manager(s), Market Development, the Coordinator, Market Development supports Tourism Whistler’s goals through the development and maintenance of strong client relationships. This role primarily supports the Market Development Managers in maintaining the client base, coordinating administrative activities, and delivering exceptional service. The ideal candidate brings strong communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, initiative, and a passion for the tourism industry and Tourism Whistler’s purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Tourism Whistler ambassador, living our purpose and vision with passion & energy, achievement and respect.
  • Assists in the coordination and preparation of sales missions and tradeshows, arranging sales calls, building presentations, coordinating logistics and related follow-up.
  • Organizes and delivers familiarization tours for visiting clients that include member communication, preparing itineraries, and leading/hosting events.
  • Prepare, facilitate, and deliver presentations to clients in-person as well as in webinar format (live and pre-recorded).
  • Develops and maintains relationships with members, industry partners, community, and Travel Trade clients.
  • Maintains database of clients/accounts and follows up with business opportunity leads.
  • Lead the development and execution of team projects such as: Quarterly Newsletters, Trade Website updates, Destination Experience Pass coordination and themed Itinerary creation.
  • Attend in-market tradeshows and events as required.
  • Assist with the coordination of co-op marketing projects as needed, such as sourcing copy, video, and images.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of tour operator and consumer promotions.
  • Support managers with additional administrative duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Two+ years’ experience in a sales role.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with a strong customer service focus.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable, with a proactive approach and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Collaborative team player who works well with internal teams, stakeholders, and partners at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Whistler and its tourism products and experiences is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the tourism and hospitality industry is an strong asset.
  • Flexibility to support client events and industry functions outside of regular business hours as required.
