Reporting to the President of the Nunavut Arctic College (College), the Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for providing leadership and direction in all aspects of its Information Technology division. The successful candidate will be accountable for the effectiveness of the College’s Information Technology function, including capital needs, management and procurement, software and licensing requirements, managed services, CANARIE network functions and governance, staffing of the division, and relevant and necessary IT training for College staff, faculty and students.

Other Key Responsibilities Of The Position Include

• Providing leadership in establishing, maintaining and updating the framework, policies, procedures and guidelines for the College’s diverse Information Services’ needs;
• Creating a safe, effective and responsive team, one that meets the capital, software and training needs of the College;
• Managing the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) networks and work to support the College’s core business network;
• Ensuring appropriate systems and supports are available for the College to deliver its mandate;
• Securing government systems and data as it pertains to the College’s financial and student information systems;
• Maintaining effective and collaborative relationships with relevant stakeholders, within the College, Government of Nunavut and others, within and beyond Nunavut.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the completion of an undergraduate degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, business administration or a related field. Ten years of relevant progressive experience across multiple disciplines including IT management, project management, strategic planning; including five years in a senior leadership role. Assets include: A master’s in computer science, business or a related field; experience in education or a post-secondary environment; and/or experience in working with the following software: Brightspace Learning Management System, Student Information System and Fresh.

This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required. The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French.
