TEMPORARY FOOD SERVICES ASSISTANT
About the role
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the Health Promoting Schools Food Coordinator to support various food programs throughout the School District (example Food for Families Program)
- Assists with assembly and delivery of grocery orders
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold food items and portions prior to and during meal periods
- Receives, stores, and rotates incoming food supplies and materials and records inventory of food supplies and materials
- Operates domestic and commercial grade equipment such as blender, stove, flat top, oven, microwave, and dishwasher
- Establish positive working relationships within the school district, community and partners, and positive connections with other service providers in the community
- Understand and act in accordance with school and district policies and procedures, District Health & Safety Manual, WorkSafeBC regulations, health and nutrition guidelines, and Food Safe procedures
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid FOODSAFE Level 1 certification
- One year of recent experience in the food service industry
- 6 months of recent experience in social services field considered an asset
- Training in allergy awareness or anaphylaxis considered an asset
- Ability to follow written instructions and recipes
- Demonstrate an understanding of cooking to scale
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and family members
- Demonstrated ability for attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency, including ability to complete work to required deadlines
- Demonstrated experience with planning and organization
- Effective communication skills in verbal, written and electronic format
- Physical capacity to unload, stock, and transport food supplies (50lbs lifting capacity)
- Basic computer skills such as email and online ordering
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license

- (TWO) Food Service Assistants - four and one-half (4.5) hours/day, four (4) days/week, primarily based out of Hutton Food Hub, until June 29, 2027, and while students are in school** __**
