LuminUltra is scaling our presence in the North American food industry to support companies in meeting and exceeding the regulatory and operational demands in the market. We are excited to be expanding our team. We are recruiting an  Applications Lead;

Where You’ll Work

This is a remote role; we are seeking candidates located in Ontario but we are open to remote work in the any of the provinces we are established in: Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.

What You Will Do

As part of our growth in the Food & Beverage market, we are collecting applications for an  Applications Lead – Food & Beverage

to work closely with customers to support their adoption of our Food Safety and Hygiene Monitoring solutions. We welcome candidates with a variety of experience levels who are ready to learn, grow, and make an impact – even if this role is not a perfect fit, we encourage you to apply as we may have new opportunities open as we expand the team. 

In the Applications Lead role, you will engage directly with quality assurance, food safety and research stakeholders across food process facilities. You will focus on building strategic relationships, partnering with key customers and academic institutions to develop case studies and white papers, and support early adoption of advanced solutions through compelling presentations tailored to industry challenges. This position offers a base salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 CAD, depending on experience. 

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have strong technical expertise and industrial credibility within the Food & Beverage industry. The Applications Lead will have key responsibilities such as:

Market Leadership

  • Own the market vertical from an Applications perspective
  • Manage additional resources within the market focus
  • Define and execute annual initiatives in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders and contributors – collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to proactively refine market strategy

Market Development

  • Develop and deliver thought leadership, including technical presentations, webinars, white papers, and case studies, to highlight product benefits and applications, through partnership with key customers and academic institutions
  • Represent LuminUltra in technical committees
  • Participate in conference/trade show planning and execution (before, during, and after) and attend applicable technical sessions – deliver compelling presentations and content tailored to industry challenges in microbial monitoring
  • Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Manage relationships with external researchers/stakeholders and manage proof-of-concept studies – expand a strong network of academic and industry contacts

Customer Engagement

  • Collaborate with customers to understand their specific needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions
  • Lead technical onboarding, including delivering training, product demonstrations, and site-level troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the design and execution of validation studies for customers to ensure product efficacy and reliability
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback to identify areas for product positioning, product improvement, and development
  • Provide Level 2 Technical Support in conjunction with our Customer Experience team

Sales Support

  • Assist in sales presentations by providing technical expertise on products and applications
  • Other duties, as assigned

Who You Are

You're a self-motivated individual, who is looking for an opportunity to develop within an organization that is on a consistent growth and expansion trajectory. Additionally, you bring skills and experience to the table such as:

  • Masters degree, equivalent certification, or a combination of training and experience in Microbiology, Food Science, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in the food industry, preferably in a technical, advisory, or audit-related role
  • Familiarity with food safety programs, ATP testing, EMPs, HACCP, and GFSI-aligned programs
  • Proven experience implementing new technology or tools to clients or a team
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence presenting to QA and technical teams
  • Highly organized self-starter comfortable with travel across North America
