About the role
As a Beveller, you will operate a beveling machine, cutting and shaping metal pieces, creating angled surfaces on parts, and preparing them for further fabrication. These parts are used in the manufacture of equipment dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. Experience operating fabrication machinery, including the ability to understand and interpret engineering documents and strong attention to detail is required.
Location: 100 Savage Drive, Cambridge, ON
Dedicated Shift: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday – Friday
Job Duties
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and specification manuals to ensure the meticulous cutting and shaping of metal parts
- Layout, set up, and operate the bevelling machine, making adjustments based on the required lengths of all cuts
- Operate lifting devices, such as cranes (overhead and/or jib), or vacuum lifts, to move large material
- Measure the dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measurement devices
- Perform routine machine maintenance to keep the bevelling machine in prime operating condition.
Skills and Experience
- Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
- Collaboration with coworkers; effective communication and reasoning skills are essential when working on projects that involve multiple team members
- Physical requirements include the use of strength such as pulling, pushing, lifting and/or moving objects during the work, as well as standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending
Qualifications
- Previous related experience operating and maintaining metalworking machinery, ideally bevelling machines.
- Proven mechanical abilities; able to understand and interpret engineering documents.
