About the Role

As ATB’sOccupational Health & Safety Manager, you are on a mission to support the health and safety of our team members by bringing to life a proactive safety culture across the organization. You will bridge the gap between operational execution and strategic safety management. You will ensure legislative compliance across multiple Canadian jurisdictions while implementing hazard controls and analyzing data to foster a safe, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.

The OH&S Manager is an individual contributor position with no direct reports. However, it has a significant impact by collaborating across multiple teams, influencing safety culture, and providing expert advice on health and safety.

Accountabilities

-**Program Development and Management:**Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide safety policies, procedures, and manuals, including hazard assessments and emergency response plans. Develop and coach a strong network of OH&S Representatives across all ATB locations. -**Legislative Compliance:**Ensure the ATB OH&S Management System remains current and compliant with applicable Alberta, BC, and Ontario legislation. Track and report on legislative requirements and ensure accurate reporting and corrective actions. -**Data Analysis and Reporting:**Synthesize OH&S data to produce Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Create detailed business analysis documents to highlight safety trends and propose actionable solutions for both physical and hybrid work environments. -**Training and Education:**Design and deliver comprehensive in-person and virtual OH&S training modules tailored to different levels of the organization. -**Auditing and Inspections:**Lead and execute the Certificate of Recognition (COR) audit and coordinate regular audit schedules and site visits to ensure all findings are actioned. -**Incident and Claims Management:**Oversee the reporting, investigation, and follow-up of workplace incidents. Manage Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) claims, supporting team members through the return-to-work process. -**Stakeholder Collaboration:**Act as a primary resource for team members and leaders, collaborating across departments (Risk, Legal, HR) to influence safety culture and provide expert advice.

-**Strategic and Critical Thinking:**Ability to connect safety data to broader organizational strategies, identifying gaps and proactively addressing potential risks. -**Effective Communication:**Skilled at articulating complex safety concepts to diverse audiences, from frontline team members to senior leadership. -**Agility and Adaptability:**Comfort working in an agile environment with the flexibility to manage competing priorities and adapt to ongoing changes. -**Attention to Detail:**Maintain a keen eye for detail to identify gaps in an ever-changing environment and ensure complex tasks are completed to a high standard. -**Ethical Integrity:**Uphold high ethical standards regarding the confidentiality of sensitive information and data management.

Accreditations and Experience

-**Education:**A Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline is required. -**Certification:**A Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is preferred. -**Experience:**5–8 years of relevant OH&S experience, demonstrating growth from an individual contributor role into a practitioner who can manage complex programs and processes. -**Technical Knowledge:**Strong expertise in office ergonomics, safety management systems, hazard assessments, and Canadian provincial safety legislation. -**Systems thinking:**Experience working within health & safety technology systems is an asset -**Travel and Licensing:**A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license is required, with the ability to travel for site visits as needed.

Workplace Arrangement

This position has ahybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 2-3 days on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.
