What You'll Do As a Senior Ecologist , you'll lead environmental components of land development projects across Southern Ontario. You will:
- Coordinate and oversee environmental studies, assessments, and approvals
- Collaborate with clients, environmental professionals, and engineers
- Mentor junior staff and lead project execution
- Conduct fieldwork and data analysis (flora, fauna, species at risk)
- Prepare technical reports and business proposals
- Provide expert input on environmental planning, approvals, and mitigation measures
- Represent clients as an expert witness before the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT)
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Studies (or related field)
- 8+ years of experience as a terrestrial ecologist or biologist (consulting preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Ontario ecosystems, field protocols & environmental policies
- Experience preparing regulatory submissions and environmental studies
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and project management skills
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
- Experience as an expert witness (OLT/OMB) is required
Assets (Preferred)
- Ecological Land Classification (ELC)
- Arborist certification
- Butternut Health Assessment (BHA) certification
- Ontario Wetland Evaluation System (OWES) certification
- Wildlife field program experience
