The Position

As an intern you will be part of our Portfolio Delivery Pods within Data Strategy and Delivery in PD Data Sciences.

You will work as a Data Quality Intern within the Clinical Data Management (CDM) function and with a team of experts in data life-cycle management who acquire and curate data for use in exploratory research, clinical development and evidence generation. You will collaborate with peers within the function and across the organization to identify, design and execute fit for purpose data management solutions, adhering to F.A.I.R. (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles. You will ensure the timely completion of data management deliverables and partner with External Business Partners (ExBPs) and vendors, overseeing and providing technical expertise in the delivery of high quality data. You may also contribute to functional, cross functional, enterprise-wide or external initiatives that shape our technical landscape, business and healthcare environments. You will need strong strategic, collaboration and communication skills, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset, to evolve the way we collect and deliver data and to develop and deliver medicines for our patients.

The Opportunity:

  • Data Management and Quality Assurance: Design and execute data management solutions aligned with FAIR principles, ensuring high-quality data collection, compliance with industry regulations, and effective oversight of External Business Partners (ExBPs) and vendors
  • Innovation and Expertise in Data Collection: Act as a subject matter expert, advising on best practices and innovative approaches for data collection (e.g., new biomarkers, sensors, and real-world data) and acquisition using emerging technologies
  • Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Partner with stakeholders and vendors for data transfer agreements, vendor selection, and management. Proactively engage with stakeholders to understand needs, influence decision-making, and keep them informed about project deliverables and milestones
  • Data Quality Evaluation and Curation: Use surveillance tools and analytics to review data quality, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and identification of patterns or anomalies, while organizing and integrating data in compliance with FAIR principles
  • Project Management: Develop risk management strategies, track timelines, and ensure successful oversight and delivery of studies, work packages, and projects, including the implementation of new technologies
  • Participation in Cross-Functional Initiatives and Functional Excellence: Contribute to initiatives aimed at shaping the future landscape of data management, adopting new technologies, and enabling effective use of data across the business
  • Technical Consultation and Support: Act as a technical consultant for internal and external stakeholders, offering guidance on data management solutions and ensuring seamless data flow from collection to analysis

Who you are:

  • You hold an undergraduate degree in Life Sciences
  • You are currently pursuing a Masters in Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization, Masters in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Data/Computer Science or Bioinformatics. Interns must be enrolled in a degree granting institution at the START of their internship.
  • Collaboration, Communication, and Leadership: Exhibit strong collaboration, excellent written and oral communication skills (proficiency in English), and demonstrated leadership qualities in decision-making, negotiation, motivation, and influencing others
  • Project and Priority Management: Possess project management skills with the ability to handle multiple requests, manage priorities efficiently, and take initiative with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Technical and Analytical Expertise: Experience or proficiency in data analytics, visualization tools, and techniques, along with a strong foundation in biological principles and an understanding of diverse scientific data types (e.g., clinical data, biomarkers, WGS, RNA-seq, etc.)
  • Continuous Learning and Mentorship: Display scientific curiosity, self-direction, and a willingness to learn new techniques while mentoring and supporting others toward success

  • Duration: 12 months, with an approximate start date in January 2026
  • Modality: Full Time (35 hours per week) Hybrid (majority of days on - site is required)
