About the role

Role Summary

The Senior SmartCOMM / CCM Solution Engineer is responsible for hands‑on design, development, configuration, and deployment of enterprise Customer Communication Management (CCM) solutions using SmartCOMM, SmartIQ, and related Smart Communications platform components. This role focuses on building high‑quality templates, data models, integrations, and communication workflows that support policy, billing, claims, and customer correspondence across large insurance and financial services organizations. The engineer partners closely with architects, business analysts, product owners, and integration teams to deliver scalable, compliant, and high‑performance communication solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. SmartCOMM Template & Content Engineering Build, configure, and maintain SmartCOMM templates, layouts, fragments, and content logic. Develop reusable components for policy documents, claims letters, billing statements, regulatory notices, and omnichannel communications. Implement conditional logic, personalization rules, and dynamic content assembly. Ensure brand consistency, compliance, and multi‑channel output (PDF, email, print, digital).
  2. Data Modeling & Input/Output Engineering Design and configure SmartCOMM Data Models, Data Dictionaries, and Input Templates. Map structured data (JSON, XML) to SmartCOMM templates with precision and validation. Collaborate with upstream system teams (PAS, CRM, billing, claims) to ensure accurate data ingestion. Optimize data structures for batch, real‑time, and interactive communication use cases.
  3. SmartCOMM / SmartIQ Workflow Development Configure SmartIQ forms, workflows, and interactive communication experiences. Build guided interview flows, dynamic forms, and approval processes. Integrate SmartIQ outputs with SmartCOMM for end‑to‑end communication generation.
  4. Integration & API Implementation Implement SmartCOMM APIs, REST services, and batch processes.

Integrate SmartCOMM with

Guidewire PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter Duck Creek CRM platforms Document management systems Print vendors and digital delivery channels Support event‑driven and cloud‑native communication workflows. 5. Environment Management & Deployment Support environment setup, configuration, and deployment pipelines. Manage versioning, releases, and migration of templates across environments. Troubleshoot performance issues, errors, and production defects. 6. Quality Assurance & Governance Conduct unit testing, regression testing, and template validation. Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and accessibility standards. Maintain documentation for templates, data models, workflows, and integrations. 7. Collaboration & Stakeholder Support Work closely with Solution Architects to translate designs into executable builds. Partner with business teams to refine requirements and ensure communication accuracy. Support demos, UAT, and production rollout activities.

Required Skills & Experience

8–12+ years of IT experience with strong hands‑on CCM engineering. 3–5+ years of direct SmartCOMM experience (templates, data models, APIs). Experience with SmartIQ (preferred but not required). Strong proficiency in JSON, XML, XSLT, and structured data mapping. Hands‑on experience with REST APIs, web services, and integration patterns. Experience in insurance or financial services communication workflows. Ability to troubleshoot complex template, data, and integration issues. Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

SmartCOMM or SmartIQ certifications. Experience with Guidewire, Duck Creek, or other core systems. Familiarity with other CCM platforms (Quadient Inspire, OpenText Exstream). Cloud experience (Azure, AWS). Knowledge of DevOps pipelines and CI/CD.
