The opportunity Canada Powered by Women (CPW) is looking for a full-time Junior Fundraiser & Government Relations Assistant. We’re seeking a motivated early-career professional to support fundraising and advocacy initiatives aligned with our mission to amplify women’s voices in Canada’s energy policy landscape.

This role supports donor engagement, sponsorship coordination, and advocacy activities while working collaboratively across marketing, communications, events, and external partners. The position reports to the CEO with day-to-day oversight from the Senior Executive Assistant & Operations Specialist.

Key responsibilities

Fundraising & sponsorship (80%) Donor stewardship & fundraising support

  • Support donor communications, sponsorship proposals, presentations, and reporting.
  • Research prospective sponsors and funding opportunities; maintain accurate tracking systems.
  • Draft donor correspondence, reports, and fundraising materials.
  • Coordinate donor and stakeholder meetings, including follow-ups and action items. Sponsorship fulfillment & event coordination
  • Track sponsorship agreements and ensure all commitments are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Maintain fulfillment trackers and provide status updates to leadership.
  • Coordinate sponsor activations and National Tour engagements with internal teams and partners. Salesforce & reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of donors, sponsors, and stakeholders in Salesforce.
  • Track donations, pipelines, and engagement activities.
  • Prepare monthly reports, dashboards, and performance updates. Campaigns, events & communications
  • Support fundraising campaigns, email outreach, and stakeholder communications.
  • Help coordinate logistics for events, advocacy activities, and campaign launches.
  • Develop event materials, invitations, and sponsor recognition assets. Administrative support
  • Assist the CEO with scheduling, briefing materials, and project coordination.
  • Liaise with Board members, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Support merchandise coordination and operational initiatives.

Government relations & advocacy (20%)

  • Support advocacy campaigns, events, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate outreach and logistics for meetings with government and community stakeholders.
  • Maintain stakeholder tracking systems and support external relations activities.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in public policy, political science, nonprofit management, communications, business or related field.
  • Strong communication (written and oral), research, organization and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset with willingness tolearn and be part of a team.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Commitment to the values of economic prosperity and sustainability.
  • Belief in the CPW vision and mission, alignment with its core values

Preferred experience

  • 1-2 years’ work experience.
  • Volunteer or work experience in a nonprofit, advocacy, or public policy setting.
  • Experience using Salesforce or CRM systems, Monday.com, and Canva is an asset.
  • Experience supporting fundraising efforts, campaigns, proposal writing / writing, and distilling policy.
  • Familiarity with Canadian government institutions, public policy processes and stakeholder engagement practices is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canada’s energy sector and related issues is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Additional expectations

  • Full-time role (~37.5 hours/week)
  • Calgary based only, hybrid work model.
  • Occasional travel required to support national events, advocacy initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend events as required.
