Job Title: Service Apprentice, Technician
Hourly Rate: $26.08–$30.83 per hour Location: Kelowna, British Columbia Door Systems is Hiring in Kelowna, British Columbia! Looking to build a long-term career with one company? At Door Systems, our Apprentice Technician program provides the training, mentorship, and hands-on experience needed to become a skilled Commercial Door Technician. We're currently seeking Level 1, 2, and 3 Apprentices to join our growing team in Kelowna, BC. Industry experience is an asset, but not required. We're looking for individuals with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn. Working alongside experienced technicians, you'll learn to install, service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial doors, dock equipment, gate operators, and access systems. With a strong backlog of work and continued growth, this is an excellent opportunity to build a rewarding career with Door Systems.
Responsibilities
Assist with the installation, service, and repair of commercial doors, dock equipment, operators, and access systems. Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities under the guidance of experienced technicians. Learn industry best practices, installation techniques, and safety standards. Perform routine preventive maintenance on customer equipment. Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory. Complete work orders, timekeeping, and job documentation accurately. Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and team members. Apply problem-solving skills to support customer needs and job site requirements. Follow all company and safety policies and procedures. Participate in apprenticeship training and ongoing skill development. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. Experience in construction, installation, service, or a skilled trade is an asset. Comfortable using hand and power tools. Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working at heights and performing physical work. Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a background check.
Working Conditions
Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Commercial, industrial, and construction environments. Working at heights using ladders and lift equipment. Physical work including lifting, climbing, and carrying materials.
