As part of the Enterprise Project Management Office, the Project Controls Analyst is responsible for project schedules and cost data as used to analyze project progress against baseline plans in a deadline driven environment. The Project Controls Analyst participates in planning, budgeting, contracting, and other project management activities for the purpose of establishing and maintaining appropriate plans, schedule, and budgets in support of project activities while tracking and managing revisions to the project schedule and cost forecasts.
Key functions include: Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, track actual costs, and report on project progress, cost variances, and forecasts throughout the full project life cycle. Monitor, identify, and report on schedule critical paths, non-critical activities, and project risks, while ensuring the quality of project schedules, estimates, budgets, cost data, and related reports in alignment with appropriate industry practices. Provide input for formal project reporting to the Project Manager and support change management by facilitating the appropriate level of review and approval for change management documents. Prepare accruals and forecasts, perform variance analysis, and update project reports in the existing Power BI dashboard. Identify risks, current and emerging issues in accordance with project risk and issue management practices. Report on project progress including Earned Value Analysis (EVA) and coordinate close-out activities and contribute to Benefits Realization report and lessons learned discussions.
The ideal teammate will have: University degree in Engineering or Diploma in related technology / technical area or Trades certification. Three years of progressively responsible work experience in project controls with large capital projects. Preference will be given to those with electrical utility sector experience. Experience in project planning, scheduling, cost control and risk management areas. Experience in scheduling tools, such as Microsoft Project and/or proficiency with Primavera Version 6. Formal training in project management methodologies with preference given to applicants who are a Certified associate in project management (CAPM) or a Project Management Professional (PMP). Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel. Functional knowledge of the SAP Enterprise Management System, including data entry and reporting, as well as proficiency with Power BI Desktop, would be considered an asset. Strong interpersonal skills and a proven team player with experience providing leadership, support and consultation. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to organize, analyze and report. Ability to learn to use new tools and adapt existing tools to the task at hand. Experience in the delivery of effective presentations and training. Ability to manage multiple initiatives with strong organizational skills.
An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
