About the role
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Nursing home/home for the aged. Tasks: Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities. Perform other duties related to patient care and comfort. Supply and empty bed pans. Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse. Serve meal trays and feed patients. Weigh, lift, turn and position patients. Make beds and maintain patients' rooms. Bathe, dress and groom patients. Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher. Collect specimens. Administer first aid in emergency situations. Provide personal care. Provide companionship. Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties. Launder clothing and household linens. Administer bedside and personal care. Feed or assist in feeding. Assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate. First Aid Certificate. CPR Certificate. Nursing Aide Certificate. Health Care Aide Certificate. Personal Support Worker Certificate. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Immunization records. Tuberculosis test. Reference required. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
