About the role
Supports the portfolio management of a project finance portfolio across a variety of industries and asset classes including power generation, utilities, infrastructure, energy and energy transition in the United States and Canada. The position requires an individual who thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment and has a proven track record of analyzing project finance complex structures and negotiating challenging amendments. The individual will ultimately be responsible for hands‑on portfolio management of several files, which includes usual interim/annual reviews and negotiation, analysis and execution of complex amendments, waivers and consents as well as presenting the portfolio to the senior portfolio manager. The ability to lead portfolio management tasks with minimal guidance under time constraints will be a key differentiator of success.
Origination and Execution:

Understanding project finance risks including but not limited to technical, market, legal and financial risk.

Transaction analysis, including but are not limited to:
- Credit analysis
- Due diligence (contract reviews, legal, third party consultant reports, etc.)
- Credit documentation (financing agreements, term sheets, etc.)
- Critical analysis of financial modelling assumptions and due diligence review
- AML/KYC requirements
- Annual/Interim review write‑ups, including risk and mitigants review, proposing of appropriate sensitivities and running of financial model specific to each transaction
- Pro‑active raising of challenges, issues and concerns on transactions and proposing solutions

Preparing annual or interim review write‑ups with minimal guidance

Coordinate with credit and operations teams for portfolio management activities

Act as Administrative/Collateral Agent (review of reporting, loan draw CP confirmation, liaison/answer questions with syndicate lenders)

Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day‑to‑day accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures, including the identification of exceptions/escalations

Act as liaison with borrowers/counsels to structure/negotiate amendments, consents and waivers

Maintain borrower files in a timely fashion

Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance/accounting, economics with outstanding academic achievement
- Strong financial modelling skills are critical
- Minimum of 5 years of project finance origination or portfolio management experience, with proven experience analyzing project finance transactions
- Proven experience in closing project finance transactions or negotiating complex amendments and in sensitizing project finance financial models
- North American sector, market and asset class knowledge across power, utilities, infrastructure, energy and energy transition will be an asset
- Effective organizational and time‑management skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Outstanding communication (written, oral, listening) and interpersonal skills with ability to present complex information succinctly to internal and external audiences
- Self‑starter with ability to learn quickly and work independently while also being able to work effectively in a team environment
- Creative problem‑solver with intellectual agility and curiosity
- Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word
