About you and this role: Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Planner located in Toronto (ON, CAN). The Maintenance Planner creates job packages from the work order scope which contains all the information regarding required labor material and services to ensure safe, effective and efficient execution of the work. Requires broadened technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a defined array of activities. May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses feedback from the person doing the work to optimize the work plans.
  • Reviews work orders for technical completeness and return work orders to gatekeeper, if not complete.
  • Carries out field checks, when needed.
  • Prepares job package and inputs plan into global Engineering and Maintenance tracking systems indicating the required resources, materials, and services.
  • Identifies task activities necessary to execute job plan and identifies materials/tools/equipment required to perform tasks.
  • Identifies/solicits safety information and requirements necessary to safely perform tasks.
  • Supports Maintenance Procedure Use Policy by ensuring all job packages include a procedure or the task is on the Procedure Exemption list before the job package is released. Checks that all Maintenance Procedures include a hazard assessment.
  • Serves as a technical resource during procedure creation and review, as needed. Creates, develops, changes, updates job procedures and checklists, and initiates procedure Management of Change (MOC), as required.
  • Acts as back-up to the Work Activity Coordinator in their absence.
  • Participates in afterhours On Call team as Maintenance on-call coordinator.

Your Skills:

  • Environmental, Health, and Safety: Confidence to intervene on behaviors, actions, or scopes believed to be unsafe. Initiative to follow-up on issues with technical experts or leadership on safe path forward.
  • Written and Verbal Technical Communication: Ability to communicate technical problems, plans, and solutions via meeting, email, and job package with nested trades, offsite vendors, coworkers within site team, Dow technical experts, and Leadership.
  • Solutions Driven and Innovative Thinking: Able to leverage learnings/work processes from other sites and work within Dow standards to scope work for safe and efficient execution. Desire and responsiveness to coaching by Subject Matter Experts.

Qualifications:

  • Trades certificate or college diploma in chemical, mechanical, or electrical field required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in an in-field or on-site role in chemical or manufacturing industry required.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance work process and scoping/planning jobs required.
  • Understanding of SAP Work Process for Maintenance, Materials, and Receiving desired.
  • A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.
