Job Summary And Requirements This is for two full-time TERM positions (anticipatory permanent) working 75 hours bi-weekly and is located in Dawson City, Yukon. Temporary assignments may be considered. One TERM position is for six months, and another will end October 2, 2026. The established eligibility list may be used to fill positions in various communities in the Yukon. Since the Gold Rush of 1898, mining has featured prominently in building and defining the Yukon’s economy, shaping its communities, and contributing to its economic development. In the modern day context, Yukon Government controls and administers its natural resources, including its minerals. The Mineral Resources branch is responsible for administration of the Quartz Mining Act, Placer Mining Act and regulations through the Mining Recorder offices located in Whitehorse, Watson Lake, Dawson City and Mayo.
Working as a member of the Mining Recorder’s team, the Mineral Tenure Officer is responsible for assisting with the administration of Yukon Mining Legislation. This includes advising clients on legislative requirements; explaining procedures and information requirements; reviewing applications and researching land dispositions to ensure overlaps are identified; compiling information on claims; and recording data in the Northern Mineral Records System (NMRS).

- Post-secondary coursework in business or office administration or a related field;
- Experience working in a front-line client service setting with the public;
- Extensive experience and proficiency with computerized technology, software, databases, and applications;
- Working with land or resource management legislation/legal documents would be an asset;
Candidates who have a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
Desired Knowledge, Skills And Suitability Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong prioritization and time management skills to adapt quickly to ever-changing deadlines
- Ability to accept and process documents, applications and financial transactions from members of the public based on set criteria
- Strong oral and written communication skills that demonstrate high levels of tact and diplomacy
- Ability to manage a large workload with critical deadlines, with initiative to monitor and follow-up
- Ability to analyze problems, think critically, and make appropriate recommendations
Additional Information Conditions of Employment: Obtain Notary Public certification within six months of hire.
