About Us

The Procurement Services Department facilitates the best-value procurement of goods and services in support of the research community and the campus at large through the use of strong procurement skill sets, solid win-win supplier negotiations, exemplary customer service and exceptional knowledge of procurement standards and guidelines. Western’s sustainable procurement goals continue to expand, aligning with broader institutional strategies (e.g., 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, GHG Protocols, AASHE STARS).

Responsibilities

The Sustainability and Compliance Coordinator will support critical ongoing initiatives tied to sustainability, compliance, and strategic procurement transformation. This position is essential for continuing momentum on key projects while addressing current resource constraints and enabling the department to meet growing institutional and legislative demands.

Qualifications

Education:

Post-secondary education in sustainability, supply chain management, public policy, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Experience in sustainable procurement, ESG reporting, or compliance-related roles.
  • Familiarity with GHG accounting, circular economy principles, and Canadian procurement legislation.
  • Experience with institutional reporting frameworks such as AASHE STARS and GHG Protocol is preferred.

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement platforms (e.g., Bonfire).
  • Knowledge of sustainability evaluation tools and training development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
