About the role
The Good Spirit School Division Invites applications for a Permanent Building Operator Yorkton Regional High School The Building Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school facility, as it relates to cleaning and maintenance, to ensure a safe and efficient environment and improve student outcomes through well-maintained facilities. This position provides direct supervision to caretakers and building technicians in their specified facility.
Location: Yorkton, Saskatchewan
Assignment/Contract 8.0 hours/day - Full Time
Salary And Benefits As per the Out of Scope Salary Schedule ($61,962-$78,411 range per annum, dependent on qualifications) and Out of Scope Benefit Plan. Pension is also included; this deduction is 9% of the regular salary earned with contributions matched by the Division.

The duties of a Building Operator include but are not limited to:
- Serve as the single point of contact for school administration and staff regarding facilities and caretaking items;
- Direct the daily Caretaking schedules and resources required to effectively and efficiently complete tasks in a timely manner, providing assistance when required;
- Prepare administrative documents such as timesheets and leaves of absences;
- Assist Caretaker Coordinator in providing leadership in the development and training of caretaking staff;
- Assist Caretaker Coordinator in providing leadership including planning, coaching, and reviewing work performance;
- Coordinate facility rentals in conjunction with school administration and central office Facilities team. Responsibilities include preparations, staffing, cleanup, and administration;
- Responsible for the grounds maintenance including grass cutting, weed and pest control, and snow removal;
- Responsible for daily building maintenance, including a daily building walk-through to identify repairs and communicate to facilities;
- Support Facilities with the daily monitoring requirement for facilities heating and ventilation, including weekend boiler checks where required;
- Maintain and control adequate inventory of caretaking supplies and equipment;
- Provide leadership in emergencies which may involve emergency call-outs.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Principal or Caretaker Coordinator.
The successful candidate will have the desired knowledge & qualifications:
- Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in facilities caretaking or maintenance and at least one (1) year of supervisory experience in facilities operation or maintenance;
- Management Training at a Certificate Level or Journeyperson status in a building-related trade would be considered an asset;
- Level I and II Occupational Health & Safety;
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Certification;
- Fifth Class Power Engineering Certificate (Melville Composite School);
- A valid driver’s license.
