As BBB’s k****ey c****ontact for news m****edia, b****usinesses, and c****onsumers in the Ottawa r****egion, y****ou w****ill:

  • Build relationships with local news media, businesses, and consumers to increase awareness of BBB’s mission and services across the Ottawa region.
  • Implement localized programs to engage the community and promote ethical business practices.
  • Appear as a spokesperson on local TV and radio stations to discuss consumer tips and alerts.
  • Provide monthly BBB columns for newspapers in the Ottawa region.
  • Collaborate with Ottawa BBB’s affiliative office in St. Louis, Missouri on press releases, blogs, newsletters, social media and more.
  • Create a community of trustworthy businesses and charities and celebrate marketplace role models.
  • Represent BBB at business organization meetings, community events, and annual TORCH Awards.
  • Plan and execute events like business mixers, seminars, and educational webinars.
  • Make presentations to consumer, business and trade groups about BBB services.
  • Work with BBB Accredited Businesses to grow BBB’s influence in the region and assist new memberships.
  • Engage with large businesses to establish business relationships and promote the benefits of accreditation.
  • Manage the Ottawa regional office space and support local staff as needed.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, inclusive, and respectful work atmosphere.
  • Communicate BBB’s mission and vision and articulate how your role contributes to advancing the organization’s goals.

What y****ou b****ring:

  • A passion for community involvement and promoting ethical business practices.
  • Strong networking skills and familiarity with standard business practices in Canada.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience working with media or public relations (on-air/camera experience is a plus).
  • The ability to set priorities, stay organized, and meet goals.
  • A 4-year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and CRM software.
  • Experience with project management software, such as monday.com.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
