The Building Electrical Director plays a central role: leading and inspiring the organization’s largest electrical team, made up of more than 40 passionate professionals in Montreal. This dynamic and dedicated team contributes every day to large-scale projects, whether institutional, industrial, or commercial, by fostering collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
In addition to coaching and developing talent, the Director ensures that every project is carried out with rigor and creativity, while supporting the growth and quality that BPA is known for. This is a unique opportunity to lead well-established teams and further their development in a stimulating and ever-evolving environment.
Reporting directly to Marco Freitas, Eng., Senior Director for the Greater Montréal region, and working closely with Julie Lefebvre, Eng., Vice President, Electricity, the Director acts with full autonomy and plays a key role in inspiring the future of the electrical discipline at BPA.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Project Oversight
- Supervise technical execution within the discipline to ensure quality, performance, and compliance with internal processes and client expectations.
- Plan, assign, coordinate, and oversee teams to ensure effective project delivery.
- Ensure that the work of the discipline meets BPA’s engineering standards, procedures, and tools, and contribute to their ongoing improvement.
- Act as a technical resource and reviewer for complex projects or critical design decisions.
- Analyze organizational inefficiencies and implement corrective measures to improve internal processes and efficiency.
- Optimize resource allocation and manage priorities to balance workloads across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Participate in project kick-offs, technical reviews, and project closeouts to ensure knowledge sharing and quality control.
- Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support effective solutions.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring high levels of engagement and performance.
- Identify staffing needs (interns, graduates, professionals), and participate in recruitment and onboarding processes in collaboration with HR.
- Identify training needs and foster continuous learning and professional development within the team.
- Facilitate regular feedback and performance evaluations, in line with BPA’s HR practices.
- Promote an inclusive and collaborative work environment aligned with BPA’s values and culture.
- Ensure a healthy, safe, and respectful work environment, in compliance with occupational health and safety standards and company policies.
Business Development
- Support service proposal and bidding processes by providing technical expertise, resource allocation plans, and risk assessments.
- Contribute to identifying new services or technical innovations tailored to market and client needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry partners to support growth and client loyalty.
Profil
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or another relevant discipline).
Professional designation: Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Experience: Around 12 years of experience in building electrical design and project execution. Significant experience (5+ years) in team and project management.
- Languages: Proficiency in French and good command of English, both spoken and written.
- Leadership Competencies: Ability to mobilize, develop, and elevate the team to a high level of performance. Capacity to inspire, give meaning, and foster collaboration and innovation.
- Other Desired Skills: Strong emotional intelligence, client orientation, financial management knowledge, political and strategic acumen, sound judgment, rigor, ability to influence and drive change.
