About the Position
The successful candidate will play a key role in a wide variety of projects and join our dedicated team of professionals, working in a multidisciplinary team environment to support our clients in the mining and power & water industries. The ideal candidate will be proactive, motivated, and ready to mentor and support the professional development of junior engineers and scientists. This position includes opportunities for domestic and international travel and may involve fieldwork assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and conducting site investigations, such as installing monitoring wells, pumping wells, vibrating wire piezometers, and packer testing
- Characterizing existing groundwater conditions and developing conceptual models
- Developing 3D numerical groundwater models
- Water quality assessments
- Estimating groundwater inflows to open pits, underground mines, and seepage analyses
- Reporting to support environmental impact assessments, feasibility studies, and mine water management
- Working in the consulting industry and dealing directly with clients
Requirements
- Master’s degree with a specialization in hydrogeology.
- Technical proficiency in numerical groundwater modelling (MODFLOW, FEFLOW).
- Mining industry experience is a benefit.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer in BC.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong technical competence with a proven ability to think outside the box and provide innovative solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Valid BC driver’s license.
Pay and Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this position is $85,000 to $120,000 CAD. Variations in salary offered will be dependent on relevant knowledge, experience, and skill level. KP’s total compensation and benefits also include the following:
- Comprehensive health and wellness package (Health, Dental, Vision, HSA, EFAP, etc.)
- Employer RRSP contribution
- Profit sharing bonus
- Additional paid days off and office closures for Easter Monday, Remembrance Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and days between December 25th and January 1st.
