The Café Barista will oversee the daily operations of Café 1967, located in the lobby of the Sandman Signature Winnipeg Hotel & Suites. Open each morning to serve hotel guests, the café requires team members who are personable, professional, and committed to delivering exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will project a positive image of the café, respond effectively to guest needs and special requests, and act as a brand ambassador by consistently providing a high-quality, memorable experience for all guests.

DUTIES:

  • Café Operations: Oversee all aspects of daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures, food and beverage preparation, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment.
  • Beverage Preparation: Craft a range of high-quality specialty coffee drinks and light food offerings with consistency and efficiency.
  • Inventory: Maintain accurate inventory levels, ensure proper stock rotation, and waste reduction.
  • Guest Experience: Provide courteous, professional service to all guests, creating positive and efficient customer experience aligned with the hotel’s brand.
  • POS & Cash Handling: Operate the point-of-sale system, manage cash and credit transactions, and complete end-of-day reconciliation.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, maintaining sanitation standards and food handling procedures.
  • Coordination: Communicate regularly with hotel leadership to ensure alignment with guest service expectations and operational goals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Barista experience an asset
  • Strong knowledge of coffee brewing methods and café operations
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively
  • Availability to work early morning shifts, plus weekends, and holidays as needed

APPLICABLE SKILLS:

  • Manual dexterity required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Regular physical activity including walking, standing, sitting and lifting,
  • This will be a part time position
