About the role

Job Description As an Optical Systems Design and Verification Test (SDVT) Engineer at Nokia, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our cutting-edge fiber optic communication products, specifically within the development of high-capacity DWDM systems and 1.2 Tb/s transponders. You will collaborate closely with talented cross-functional teams, driving innovation through system-level and component-level testing and verification. Your expertise will be essential in optimizing system performance, providing actionable insights from data analysis, and ensuring seamless integration of optical systems. How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • Design and verify innovative optical systems for high-performance DWDM transponders, enhancing fiber optic communication technology.
  • Conduct comprehensive system-level and component-level testing to validate optical designs and functionality.
  • Automate experimental processes to optimize system performance and improve efficiency in testing regimens.
  • Analyze test data meticulously to troubleshoot design issues and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively integrate optical systems into product offerings.
  • Document verification processes, results, and key insights to support ongoing development and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor junior team members to cultivate a collaborative engineering environment focused on innovation.
  • Lead initiatives to implement best practices in optical system design and testing methodologies across the team.

Key Skills And Experience IYou have:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related field, or Master's with 5+ years experience.
  • Strong understanding of DWDM and coherent optical communication systems.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation and testing.
  • Experience in testing and validating fiber optic communication components (e.g., coherent transponders, EDFA).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a critical thinking mindset.
  • Familiarity with Git and version control systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Experience with machine learning and large language models (LLM).
  • Background in optical testing and measurement instruments.
  • Knowledge of database management (SQL, NoSQL, or time series databases).
