Purpose of your Position - Non Union
Classification Summary - Union
Bring your electrical and instrumentation knowledge and experience to our Water team. Working in an industrial electrical environment, you will install, calibrate, maintain and repair electrical and instrumentation components, configure programmable logic computers, wireless communication networks and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems in City Water Treatment & Supply facilities.
To be successful, candidates will require an Electrical Trade Ticket, along with a Highschool Diploma and a Class 5 Driver’s License. Preference may be given to those that hold or can obtain an FSR designation and/or hold a Diploma in Instrumentation Technology. Please note that the successful candidate must be able to travel to the designated work location within 20-minutes due to emergency on-call requirements.
There is a career development plan in place for the Red Seal Instrumentation ticket with an opportunity to earn up to an additional $3 per hour upon completion.
Duties - Union

Performs repairs, calibration, installations, testing and preventative maintenance on a variety of City electrical distribution and control systems, as well as components in the water, sewer and wastewater network and treatment facilities.

Installs and troubleshoots control systems, data gathering systems and programmable logic controllers.

Designs and modifies technical as-built drawings for new or existing electrical and instrumentation systems.

Develops and implements Instrumentation/Electrical maintenance programs.

Maintains and updates electrical and control records.

Provides technical guidance, instruction and direction to operators and other facility staff; develops standard operating procedures for electrical and instrumentation equipment.

Operates various equipment related to the work, including computers and a variety of gauges, hand tools and power tools.
