About the role

Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager of The Summit Centre for Youth Resilience Day Hospital program, the Nurse Clinician provides clinical leadership and consultation for the Day Hospital multi-disciplinary team and provides a combination of direct patient contact for readiness & disposition planning. The Nurse Clinician acts as the intake coordinator for the program, triages referrals, makes decisions around client suitability, assigns clients to treatment team members, oversees the flow and consults regularly with referring partners within CAAMHPP. The Nurse Clinician facilitates connections to the appropriate community resource as necessary, acts as a patient advocate, and provides the Day Hospital team with enhanced resource supports. The nurse clinician will provide this service for children and adolescents, supporting the patient, families, and teams in managing disposition care. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required. Active registration with CRNA or CRPNA.

Preferred Qualifications:

Canadian Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Certification or Master's in Nursing Degree is an asset. Completion of Brain Story Certification preferred. Collaborative Problem Solving Training preferred. Suicide Risk Assessment training. 1-2 years' experience working in a multidisciplinary mental health team acting in a leadership capacity. Previous Nurse Clinician experience within CAAMHPP is considered an asset. 3-5 years' experience working with children and adolescents with mental illness.
