Project Engineering Coordinator

Our Nuclear Canada business is experiencing significant growth driven in part by planned New Build projects underway internationally and domestically. Candu Energy Inc., an AtkinsRéalis company, is involved in the deployment of the GEH BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) at Ontario Power Generation Darlington site. It will be the first grid-scale SMR deployed in Canada.
We are currently seeking either Project Engineering Coordinator in a Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical discipline – Site Support to join our team at the project site office, Oshawa, Ontario and Home Office Design Support in Misssauiaga, Ontario.
The Project Engineering Coordinator will have two reporting lines, project reporting will be to the Technical Director, while the functional reporting will be to the Technical Manager.
Your role within the team:
- Review and analyze project controls reports on schedule, cost, milestones, and resources.
- Support the engineering change control process in a large multidisciplinary project (design phases to site implantation for new nuclear builds).
- Support engineering integration by creating datasets, and tracking.
- Support preparation of guidelines and bridging procedures for seamless implementation of DNNP configuration management requirements within the project.
- May be requested to prepare and /or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants, e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, Dispositions to field changes, and System Code Classification.
- Track cost and schedule performance, as well as project milestones.
- Support the Home office and Site Technical Directors and Technical Managers in resource management, cost, and schedule management.
- Assist the Home office and Site Technical Directors and Technical Managers in developing "what-if" schedules and recovery plans.
- Capture minutes of meetings (MoM) for critical meetings, track actions, and ensure timely closures.
- Prepare change control paperwork and supporting schedules.
- Collaborate with project controls and conduct critical path schedule analysis.
- Support other Program Management team members as required.
- Manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed, and stored.

The ideal candidate:
- Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
- More than two years of experience coordinating/managing engineering services projects.
- Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards, including CSA N285.0 and ASME Section III is an asset.
- Experience working with P6 schedules.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Outstanding people skills.
- Team player.
- Aspiration to grow into a Project Manager or Technical manager role.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
