Role Overview

The Accounting Clerk plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance operations of the firm. This position focuses on accurate processing, organized documentation, and dependable follow-through across routine accounting and administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hardworking, and takes pride in accuracy. This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys structured work, can manage competing priorities, and consistently delivers high-quality output in a fast-paced professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Administration

  • Support accounts payable processing including invoice entry, coding, and tracking approvals.
  • Assist with accounts receivable administration including updating records, preparing documentation, and supporting follow-up.
  • Enter financial transactions and maintain accurate records in the accounting system.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical records of invoices, receipts, and supporting documents.
  • Assist with expense and reimbursement processing, ensuring documentation is complete and properly submitted.

Reconciliation Support and Documentation

  • Support bank and credit card reconciliations by matching transactions to back-up documentation and identifying missing items.
  • Assist with basic trust and operating account documentation support as required.
  • Ensure records are complete, accurate, and consistently filed to support reporting and audit readiness.
  • Support month-end preparation tasks including gathering documentation, organizing transaction back-up, and assisting with reconciliation follow-ups.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with the Finance team and other departments to support daily workflows.
  • Respond to internal requests for invoices, receipts, payment confirmations, or transaction back-up.
  • Follow up with vendors and internal stakeholders to obtain missing documentation or approvals.
  • Support ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in an administrative, finance support, or office environment where accuracy and organization were required.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage repetitive tasks reliably.
  • Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with financial systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a professional approach to follow-up.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial and client information.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
  • Experience supporting financial workflows
  • Experience in a professional services environment

Compensation Range: $60,000 – $75,000 (base salary)

This range reflects the full scope of the role across experience levels. Offers are based on relevant experience, demonstrated skills, and expected ramp-up time. Top-of-range compensation is reserved for candidates who bring directly transferable experience and can operate independently from day one.
