This role will focus on defining and authoring system specifications, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enabling the integration of operational technologies including communications, access control, automation, and network infrastructure. The successful candidate will work across diverse stakeholder groups to design scalable, secure, and future-ready standards that support both on-premises and cloud-integrated environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and modernization of enterprise technology standards and specifications across multiple sites
  • Author detailed system design and architecture documentation aligned with open standards and long-term strategic goals
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards including building codes, transportation regulations, AODA, TSSA, and elevator safety codes (e.g., CSA B44)
  • Design and validate integrated systems including access control, surveillance, communications (intercom, VOIP, radio), networking, and automation systems
  • Support decoupling and modernization of legacy systems into scalable, secure architectures
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, validate designs, and ensure alignment across domains
  • Conduct compliance reviews and ensure systems adhere to defined specifications and standards
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of building automation and control systems with large-scale distributed control points
  • Define and support integration across remote sites, including monitoring, operations, and third-party systems
  • Provide technical leadership and effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Support the development of performance metrics, SLAs, and operational standards across environments
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and architecture deliverables
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions to align stakeholders on architecture and standards
  • Support service management processes aligned with ITIL and operational best practices

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience with regulatory standards including building codes, transportation regulations, AODA, TSSA, and CSA (e.g., B44)
  • 7+ years of experience implementing large-scale control systems across multiple sites with at least 500 distributed control points
  • Proven experience designing and implementing building automation or operational control systems
  • Strong experience developing and authoring technical specifications and enterprise architecture documentation
  • Demonstrated experience with compliance reviews and standards development across integrated environments
  • Deep knowledge of industrial and building control standards and protocols such as ISA, IEC, ISO, ONVIF, and ISA/IEC 62443
  • Hands-on experience with technologies including BACnet, Modbus, OPC, SCADA, JACE, and related systems
  • Experience with enterprise networking and infrastructure technologies (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, structured cabling)
  • Experience with monitoring and control systems including access control, intrusion detection, fire alarms, elevators, HVAC, generators, and CCTV
  • Strong understanding of secure architecture for automation and control systems
  • Experience in systems analysis, design, and integration in large, multi-domain environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across varying levels of technical expertise
  • Knowledge of ITIL, service management, and operational processes
  • Experience developing conceptual, logical, and physical system models
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into scalable technical solutions
