  • Assists surgical team with the provision of patient care, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Physician in accordance with the hospital standards, policies and procedures
  • Performs various patient care duties and related non-professional activities necessary in meeting patient's personal needs and comfort
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe, clean and comfortable environment
  • Works in compliance with the occupational health and safety act
  • Other related duties as assigned and as per the job description

Ke y Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 (or equivalent related skills and experience)
  • Personal Support Worker and/or Orthopaedic Certificate and/or appropriate other related Healthcare Certificate or Program is required
  • Current BCLS and First Aide Certificate is essential
  • Recent Community College course on musculoskeletal assessment and/or any other healthcare related program (within 2 years)
  • Previous Hospital/Healthcare experience
  • Current computer skills (basic)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Positive work and attendance record is essential
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent walking, standing, reaching, stooping, gripping, carrying and bending
  • Frequent lifting up to approx. 17.5 kg
  • Occasional pushing and pulling up to 18 kg
