Are you ready to drive transformative change at the intersection of health, safety, and business strategy? As the Director of Occupational Health, you will have significant influence, provide dynamic strategic leadership and expert operational stewardship over all aspects of our occupational health ecosystem. This role is about more than oversight; it's about pioneering high-impact, evidence-based initiatives that proactively safeguard our employees, champion their holistic well-being, and ensure unwavering regulatory adherence. You will be a key strategic partner to executive leadership, HR, Safety, and Operations, translating visionary health strategies into tangible outcomes that optimize workforce productivity and foster a culture of sustained excellence.

In this role, you will:

  • Define, champion, and oversee the end-to-end occupational health vision and strategy, ensuring robust alignment with corporate objectives, risk management frameworks, and evolving legislative landscapes.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to a multidisciplinary occupational health and wellness team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous professional development.
  • Establish and govern comprehensive frameworks for medical surveillance, proactive injury management, robust fitness-for-work protocols, and effective return-to-work programs, ensuring optimal employee health and productivity outcomes.
  • Manage regulatory compliance, proactively interpreting and integrating federal, provincial, and municipal occupational health and safety legislation, alongside stringent public health and infection control standards, into all operational protocols.
  • Create strategic partnerships with HR, Health & Safety, and other executive leaders to architect and champion integrated health promotion, mental health, and ergonomic strategies that proactively enhance overall workforce well-being and performance.
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert and strategic advisor to executive leadership on complex workplace health risks, advanced policy formulation, and critical incident response protocols, safeguarding organizational reputation and employee welfare.
  • Exercise fiscal responsibility over departmental budgets, strategically allocating resources to maximize the return on investment in occupational health programs, and establishing rigorous performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Cultivate and leverage high-level strategic relationships with key internal stakeholders, external healthcare providers, insurers, and influential regulatory bodies to advance organizational health objectives and mitigate enterprise-level risks.
  • Champion and direct advanced data analytics initiatives to proactively identify emerging health trends, significantly reduce absenteeism, and build a highly resilient, engaged, and productive workforce.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Occupational Health, or related health discipline considered an asset. Combination of experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in occupational health or employee wellness; including 3+ years in a leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health legislation, disability management, and workplace safety practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and influence organizational strategy.
