The Department of Civil Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for aPostdoctoral Scholar in Hydrological Modelling.

Job Description:

  • The incumbent plans, organizes, and conducts research under the supervision of the principal investigator.
  • The successful applicant will evaluate alternative large-domain multi-model configurations of the NextGen WRM frameworklarge-domain hydrologic models on the basis of both scientific validity and operational feasibility
  • Collaborate with the principal investigator on analyzing, and data for publication in professional journals.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of research performance through effective sharing and discussions of ideas in a highly collaborative environment that includes industrial and government partners.

The position of is a full-time appointment, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day. Flexible work hours and remote working arrangements are possible to accommodate critical deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • PhD Degree (Environmental)
  • Experience with programming in Fortran and Python.
  • Experience with collaborative model development using GitHub.
  • Experience with processing large datasets.
  • Experience with high performance computing capabilities.
  • The candidate will demonstrate strong communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate skills in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of University core business systems is desirable
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success
  • Have a track record in peer reviewed publications in leading journals.
