The Department of Civil Engineering in the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for aPostdoctoral Scholar in Hydrological Modelling.
Job Description:
- The incumbent plans, organizes, and conducts research under the supervision of the principal investigator.
- The successful applicant will evaluate alternative large-domain multi-model configurations of the NextGen WRM frameworklarge-domain hydrologic models on the basis of both scientific validity and operational feasibility
- Collaborate with the principal investigator on analyzing, and data for publication in professional journals.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of research performance through effective sharing and discussions of ideas in a highly collaborative environment that includes industrial and government partners.
The position of is a full-time appointment, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day. Flexible work hours and remote working arrangements are possible to accommodate critical deadlines.
Qualifications:
- PhD Degree (Environmental)
- Experience with programming in Fortran and Python.
- Experience with collaborative model development using GitHub.
- Experience with processing large datasets.
- Experience with high performance computing capabilities.
- The candidate will demonstrate strong communication, analytical and organizational skills.
- Intermediate skills in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
- Knowledge of University core business systems is desirable
- A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success
- Have a track record in peer reviewed publications in leading journals.
