How you’ll make a difference:
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources Operations the Human Resources Consultant provides strategic consultative expertise and service to ensure the most effective utilization of our people in the achievement of the WCB’s strategic business objectives. Your core responsibilities will include advising, guiding, educating, and supporting an assigned client portfolio with proactive advice and solutions in all areas of recruitment and employee relations: performance management, attendance and disability management, conflict resolution, progressive discipline, and dismissals.
Your responsibilities:
- Understands clients’ business objectives to collaboratively work with leaders to optimize the people component of their business.
- Investigates, advises and resolves employee relations issues, either directly or through advice to leaders.
- Leads the recruitment process for senior level positions by developing resourcing strategies and processes to attract high quality talent.
- Ensures the alignment of strategic human resource practices with corporate business strategies by evaluating and making recommendations for changes to meet human resources requirements, supporting short and long-term business needs.
- Leads projects that ensure the organization maintains its attraction and retention programs, career development agility and ensures all improvement initiatives are successfully managed.
- Develops and delivers leadership courses in recruitment and selection, employee relations, Workplace of Respect, and other related Human Resource topics.
- Develops human resource guidelines and provides interpretation to staff and leaders.
- Participates in the collective bargaining process and the interpretation of the collective agreement.
- Handles grievances, complaints, arbitrations, and mediations arising out of the collective agreement.
- Liaises with the union for mutual beneficial dispute resolution.
Your experience and skills:
- Business Degree or related post-secondary education in human resources management with experience in leading edge practices.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of recent, progressive human resources experience in a large, complex organization with an emphasis on employee & labour relations and recruitment & talent management.
- Comprehensive and proven track record in HR consulting, leadership in implementation of projects, strategies and initiatives.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing values based, service oriented and collaborative partnerships.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including effective presentation skills.
- The ability to preserve confidentiality in sensitive situations is a key component of this position.
- Indepth knowledge and experience in leading workplace investigations.
- Self-directed with the ability to exercise independent decision making.
- Excellent time management, analytical and organizational skills are required, and must be able to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities concurrently, while recognizing priorities.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to deal with difficult and stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Experience with Workday or similar HRIS and MS Office Suite required.

Salary: $98,323.00 to $122,867.00 per annum (Salary Grade 13)
This position requires you to work in person from our Edmonton downtown office as required. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.
