About the role
The AVP, Global Head of Data Management and Governance will lead a senior team of data professionals to lead the data governance and data management programs. They will couple their data management and data governance experience with a solid understanding of GWAM’s business and operations to implement the data strategy.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead Data Management Operations for security reference data:
- Business owner of the reference data management platform.
- Oversee security reference data management operations to ensure timely distribution of security reference data to downstream applications.
- Liaise with external data management vendors as required, ensuring ongoing service levels remain high
- Business lead for the implementation of a new Data Management platform.
Lead Data Governance implementation and enablement for GWAM:
- Develop, refine, and maintain the GWAM Data Governance program including Data Quality.
- Collaborate with senior leaders across the organization to embed data governance best practices into business processes.
- Promote the business benefits of data governance across a wide audience of stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Onboard the business data community to their data governance accountabilities.
- Hold overall accountability for the implementation of Global Data Governance policies, standards, and strategies within GWAM.
- Own the GWAM metadata catalog, ensuring that key business metadata is captured for data in our enterprise data lake (EDL).
- Ensure that the enterprise data access and sharing process is followed, ensuring that data accessed in the EDL has been approved by appropriate business owners
- Own the GWAM Data Quality tool and ensure ongoing day-to-day data quality operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of deep experience in data management and data governance implementation, preferably in the financial industry.
- Experience in reference data management platform implementation within the financial industry.
- Good understanding of emerging technologies like OpenAI or other GenAI products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate vision, possibilities and outcomes across all levels in the organization.
- Excellent partner management, influencing, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

Salary range is expected to be between
$129,800.00 CAD - $241,200.00 CAD
Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
