Under the direction of the Capital Accounting Supervisor, Project Financial Support (PFS) Department, the Chartered Professional
Accountant will assume a group lead role, providing guidance to other Capital Accounting team members on various capital planning
and budgeting related processes.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with Financial Support Services (FSS) staff in administering the controllership/finance function at Manitoba
Hydro.
- Responsible for capital project system budgeting and accounting including lifecycle of SAP financial master data.
- Ensure appropriate capitalization of expenditures are in accordance with IFRS standards and ensure the Asset Accounting
Handbook is applied appropriately to capital and operating expenditures.
- Ensure capital budgets are accurate and complete by ensuring all capital controls and processes are adhered to and are
consistent with corporate and operating group guidelines.
- Represent the PFS Department in both monthly and ad hoc meetings pertaining to project system accounting and system
process improvements for capital planning and budgeting.
- Responsible for providing asset retirement information in a timely manner to facilitate the processing of gains and losses.
- Provide functional guidance in the preparation and processing of journal entries, adjustments, and corrections to accounts as
required.
- Be proficient with key software systems (e.g. SAP, Copperleaf C55, Business Warehouse and AFO) and processes used for
project system accounting.
- Ensure quarterly account reconciliations are performed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of material for General Rate Application hearings including preliminary filing
submissions and subsequent responses.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate on process improvement teams as required.
- Provide back-up support to Capital Accounting staff in their absence.
Qualifications:
- Completion of the Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) program.
- A thorough understanding of Manitoba Hydro's capital and operating accounting policies and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal contacts.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize, investigate and analyze problems and objectively discuss, present, and justify
recommendations.
- Possess a high degree of initiative, with the proven ability to work independently under broad guidelines and minimum
supervision.

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $39.27-$54.35 Hourly,
$75,242.70-$104,154.96 Annually.
