The Warehouse supervisor is responsible for the Parts Distribution Centre (PDC), managing the staff and the day-to-day business operations. This is a leadership role with accountability to overall operational efficiencies of the PDC.
Responsibilities
- Supervising, directing and scheduling the activities of all Warehouse staff, including Shippers, Receivers, Drivers and Dispatcher.
- Reviewing and monitoring daily Ship Complete orders. Ensure shipment and inventory transaction accuracy.
- Communicate shipment deliveries and order readiness to internal customers.
- Guide Inventory cycle counting and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Communicate all receivable discrepancies and freight issues with the ordering team.
- Ensure policies for core handling, shipping and receiving and inventory storage are monitored and enforced.
- Ensure that delivery vehicles present a professional appearance and are properly maintained. The vehicle represents the company (displays the company’s name) and must be kept clean (inside and out), vehicle maintenance per O.E.M. recommended maintenance schedules, free from damage, driven responsibly. Keep Vehicle Maintenance Records for twelve months. Ensure vehicles have a yearly inspection.
- Establish and maintain harmony and teamwork within the Parts Department and other departments and personnel of the dealership.
- Ensuring the warehouse and yard is clean and organized, including outside (shipping area) and all parts storage areas, and disposal of waste material including skids.
Other Shared Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assisting with training, motivating, counseling, and monitoring the performance of all warehouse staff, including Shipper/Receivers, Drivers and Dispatcher.
- Assisting the outside parts sales staff and to provide the best level of customer service and utilize your experience to ensure the success of the entire parts department.
- Monitoring daily released orders report.
- Ensuring parts and core returns are processed in a timely manner; e.g. parts returns to depot.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Ensure company Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed. Report any health and safety concerns to the Parts Manager or Joint Health & Safety Committee.
- Enforce safety requirements, including but not limited to forklift training and operation.
- Other related duties as assigned by management.
Key Performance Metrics
- All parts should be entered into the system and identified by appropriate bin location, ensuring that there are no non-located parts and no negative on-hand.
- Efficiently manage fleet expenses, applicable to appropriate maintenance schedule and utilization. e.g. Full-service maintenance every 5,000 kms, required to maintain Vehicle Maintenance Logs.
- Meet department sales goals, determined annually by budget, modified based on company objectives.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).
- Valid driver's license and a good-driving record.
- Heavy truck/automotive parts experience is an asset. Competency in the following areas required; customer service, administrative skills, time management, team building, proficiency with software and computers.
- Must have a valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate.
- Must be trained and certified to operate forklift equipment.
- Proven work experience as a Warehouse Supervisor.
- Highly effective supervisory skills and techniques
- Knowledge of warehouse software packages and MS Office proficiency
- SAP knowledge is an asset
- Ability to input, retrieve and analyze data
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
