About the role

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice-President (Administration & Finance), the Director of Physical Plant is responsible for strategic planning and budgeting, including long-term strategies, resource allocation, and compliance with financial policies, while advising senior leadership on growth, modernization, and energy efficiency initiatives.

The Director is responsible for managing operations and maintenance of all campus buildings and grounds, implementing preventative programs and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Additional responsibilities include managing all phases of capital projects and major renovations, coordinating architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. The Director also oversees campus security and risk management strategies, including surveillance systems, emergency preparedness, and collaboration with law enforcement to maintain a safe environment. This role involves leading a team of up to 50 staff and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, as well as overseeing recruitment, training, and performance management while promoting professional development opportunities. Other related duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum 3 – 4 years of post-secondary education or technical training in a relevant discipline, plus a minimum of five (5) years of practical and relevant experience is required, or a comparable combination of education and experience. Project Management certification is preferred. The successful candidate will work extensively with Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary: Managers & Professional Officers MPO -VII, $130,181.00 as of April 1, 2026.
