About the job In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, test, implement and oversee IT systems • Collect and analyze data to identify areas for improvement within an organization's IT infrastructure • Review existing IT systems and internal processes • Develop quality assurance procedures and tests for the development and improvement of new and existing systems • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on computer systems. • Develop quality assurance procedures and tests for the development and improvement of new and existing systems • Provide leadership and conduct review of client requests for IT infrastructure solution in data centers across the province and assess/determine the priority/complexity of all infrastructure build integration project work • Assist clients with determining information technology solutions to resolve their business problems • Provide technical leadership in the evaluation of the latest releases of software and hardware to determine applicability to ongoing maintenance projects and in current or future applications, and in the planning, designing and development of options to meet client business requirements • Conduct feasibility studies into new areas of technology and make recommendations • Provide advice/expertise in acquisition or development of software and hardware • Coordinate services and/or consult with vendors and IT support specialists • Prepare RFPs, conduct product tendering, evaluation, selection and acquisition, and negotiate servicing/acquisition contracts • Provide leadership and expertise in the planning, coordinating and implementing of new hardware and software • Provide guidance and leadership to other staff/team members and provide training

Mandatory requirements • You have a valid driver's licence with the ability to travel to various office locations.

Technical Knowledge and Skills You have demonstrated:

• Proven experience managing progressive infrastructure operations in enterprise or public-sector environments

Windows Infrastructure • Expert-level administration of Windows Server 2019/2022, including clustering, storage, and role-based services at enterprise scale (400+ hosts). • Active Directory design and management — multi-domain forests, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP/IPAM (e.g., Infoblox), and secure authentication. • Strong understanding of Windows networking fundamentals: TCP/IP stack, DNS, routing, and NIC teaming. • Proven hands-on experience with KACE for automated patching, compliance, and software deployment. • Performance tuning, capacity management, and proactive issue resolution in production environments. • PowerShell scripting for automation, reporting, and configuration control. Virtualization & High Availability • Advanced experience with VMware vSphere and/or Nutanix AHV environments supporting 700+ VMs. • Expertise in HCI platforms (Nutanix, Cisco HyperFlex) and virtual infrastructure lifecycle operations. • Proficiency in backup, DR replication, snapshot management, and HA operations. • Familiarity with vCenter, Nutanix Prism, and enterprise monitoring/logging systems. Linux Systems • Working knowledge of RHEL / Ubuntu system administration in mixed Windows-Linux environments. • Ability to perform patching, basic service management, and connectivity troubleshooting. • Understanding of Linux networking fundamentals and integration with Active Directory / Kerberos. • Shell scripting for basic operational tasks and log analysis. Data Center Operations • Knowledge of server lifecycle, hardware builds, and preventive maintenance practices. • Awareness of power, cooling, and structured cabling in enterprise data center environments. • Adherence to ITIL-aligned change, incident, and configuration management standards.

Professional, Communication & Analytical Skills You have demonstrated: • Strong diagnostic and analytical skills for complex infrastructure issues. • Ability to evaluate operational risk, maintain service continuity, and implement permanent fixes. • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities in multi-disciplinary technical teams. • Excellent written and verbal communication for both technical and executive stakeholders.

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Develop and present infrastructure designs, reports, and recommendations to technical and executive audiences.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and external partners.
  • Document processes, configurations, and design decisions for knowledge sharing and audit readiness. • Demonstrated ability to sustain stable operations in mission-critical, 24×7 systems. • Understanding of high-availability, low-latency, fault-tolerant infrastructure requirements for emergency response systems. • Experience supporting Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP), Emergency Health Services, or 911 dispatch environments.
