Job Description RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary The MUHC Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Research Program aims to promote and improve the health of children and young adults diagnosed with cancer or hematological disorders. We support and conduct research and research training in health and illness with the goal of facilitating the development and implementation of clinical trials, biobanks, cancer control, and nurse-initiated studies and protocols. Ongoing efforts to strengthen the interdisciplinary aspects of research are a priority for us.

This position will participate in the execution of Hematology/Oncology research studies and provide operational support to the Clinical Research Unit (CRU). It is an integral role that will work with Clinical Research Coordinators, doctors and the multi-disciplinary team of the division of hematology/oncology and the Montreal Children’s Hospital.

General Duties

  • Actively participates in the execution of ongoing research projects,
  • Developing and implementing of checklists, working instructions and any new SOPs of the CRU,
  • Overseeing and executing quality improvement projects to ensure compliance with research regulations, including essential document filing management system,
  • Overseeing and executing fundraising for the CRU, including budgeting, finances, logistics, committee meetings, and event coordination,
  • Creating and maintaining patient tracking systems and producing reports via multiple software applications, liaising with the interdisciplinary team,
  • Filing and organizing research documents (paper and electronic),
  • Tracking and ongoing management of research required certifications, training, and regulatory documents such as delegation logs, membership rosters, safety reports reviews, etc. ,
  • Archiving of research documents and/or creating certified electronic copies for archiving. ,
  • Monitoring and submitting ethical approvals, amendments, renewals and project contracts in a timely manner,
  • Coordinating a variety of studies related to therapeutics, biology, tissue banking and quality of life (this includes opening new studies, applying for contracts, patient recruitment, enrolment, follow-up and data entry, case management of protocol participants, data organization and storage, and being familiar with research protocols in order to advise the research team),
  • Interacting with patients and families regarding but not limited to recruitment, and questionnaire administration,
  • Extracting and entering data with registries,
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and Good Clinical Practice (GCP),
  • Participating in audits and monitoring visits when appropriate,
  • Other tasks as required and assigned by the CRU Manager.

Education / Experience

Education: Diploma of College Studies (DEC)

Other Education Considered An Asset For This Position

  • Bachelor’s degree,
  • Certified Clinical Research Professional (through SoCRA or ACRP or equivalent organization) preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of related experience, with experience in clinical trials or oncology being an asset.

  • Adept at using measured persistence in order to obtain required documentation to ensure compliance with research regulations ,
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized ,
  • Demonstrates active critical thinking and flexibility/adaptability to shifting priorities and multiple projects,
  • Comprehensively use computer software and technology.

Additional information

Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)

Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience. $44,408.00 - $82,427.80

Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie
