The Investigative Disclosure Specialist assembles electronic Crown Disclosure on behalf of the Calgary Police Service (CPS). This position is responsible for the collection, analysis and dissemination of high-quality Crown Disclosure that complies with CPS and Crown requirements. This includes documents, exhibits and media (photos, audio, video). The Investigative Disclosure Specialist advise CPS investigators, Crown Prosecutors and staff on processes and practices and ensures information is complete and consistent. Primary duties include:

  • Ensure Crown Disclosure and supplemental data is completed according to established CPS standard operating procedures.
  • Liaise with CPS Investigators, Crown Prosecutors and staff to ensure compliance with Crown Disclosure requirements.
  • Utilize a variety of software programs to convert digital files to disclosable PDF format.
  • Update and maintain processes for document scanning, data entry, organization, and retrieval.
  • Convert digital files to acceptable formats, and complete request of copies for disclosure submissions in a time-sensitive manner.
  • Provide quality assurance and quality control to Crown Disclosure. Ensure compliance with CPS retention and disposition requirements.

Working Conditions: Some exposure to graphic, disturbing and sensitive material.

Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g., GED).
  • Completion of a minimum of 3 relevant courses, such as those offered through the Canadian Criminal Justice System Extension Certificate or Canadian Criminal Law program.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience in a law enforcement environment that includes knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the assembly, organization and consolidation of electronic disclosure packages pertaining to criminal investigations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word), Livelink, Adobe Acrobat Pro, SENTRY (Niche), Indigo, TeleForm, Justice Online Information Network (JOIN) is preferred.
  • Success in this position requires efficiency and thoroughness, service orientation, stress tolerance and team building and teamwork. An effective communicator with a focus on results and the ability to build strong relationships.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Pay Grade 8 $37.77 - 50.50 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a compressed schedule,

consisting of four 10-hour shifts per week.

Hours of work: Non-Standard 40-hour work week
