Position Summary:
The Microscopic Cellular Imaging Facility (MCIF) at the Montreal Neurological Institute (The Neuro) in Montreal, Canada is looking for a candidate to fill the position of Microscopy Specialist (part-time 10 hours/week)
Primary Responsibilities:

Management of Consultations and Trainings: The Microscopy Specialist will manage, in collaboration with the MCIF Director, a training program ranging from basic immunostaining protocols to advanced imaging techniques and software analysis tools. They will manage consultation and training requests, pre-screen them and organize consultation and training sessions with the Director and other staff.

User training: The Microscopy Specialist will ensure that all users have been properly trained to use the equipment and provide appropriate training for new users. To this end, they will teach advanced microscopy imaging techniques and train Principal Investigators and their teams in the use of the MCIF’s advanced microscopy equipment.

Consultation and microscopy service: The Microscopy Specialist will act as a guide to direct researchers and students to microscopy equipment and techniques that will address their specific research questions. In this regard, expertise in the form of hands-on research experience in super-resolution microscopy is important.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication in English and French. Ability to work in a dynamic environment. Must be able to manage a diverse set of obligations on a daily basis with rapidly changing demands and priorities. Experience in advanced microscopy, especially research using confocal and super-resolution microscopes ranging from sample preparation through data analysis. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with facility users and principal investigators. Ability to work independently and efficiently but also be a strong team player.
