Position Summary
Ex Nihilo Vineyards is seeking a skilled and reliableChef de Partieto join our culinary team and take ownership of a designated station in our fine dining kitchen. This role is responsible for preparing and executing dishes with precision, consistency, and creativity, contributing to the overall guest experience. The ideal candidate is organized, team-focused, and passionate about seasonal, locally inspired cuisine that complements our wines.
Key Responsibilities
Station Ownership & Culinary Execution
- Manage and execute all tasks related to your assigned station (garde manger, sauté, grill, pastry, etc.) during prep and service. Taste the food!
- Prepare and manage MEP & ensure timely readiness for service in alignment with daily menus.
- Plate dishes with accuracy, consistency, and attention to presentation standards.
- Communicate clearly with other stations to ensure smooth service flow.
Standards & Kitchen Support
- Uphold kitchen cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards always.
- Support other stations and assist with prep when needed. Monitor prep lists.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and rotation of all ingredients.
- Report any issues with quality, product stock levels, or equipment promptly to the Sous Chef or Chef de Cuisine.
Training & Development
- Mentor & train junior cooks and apprentices by demonstrating proper techniques and reinforcing kitchen standards.
- Be open to learning and feedback from senior team members to grow in your role.
- Participate in daily briefings, stand ups and contribute to a collaborative kitchen culture.
- Liaise with FOH managers as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen environment.
- Strong foundational cooking skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a station independently and in a team environment.
- Maintain pace and grace under pressure.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation protocols (Food Safe certification required).
- Passion for seasonal ingredients and fine dining execution.
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and events.
- Bringing a positive attitude into the kitchen every day and treat all staff with respect.
- Excellent hospitality forward mentality is crucial to this role.
##Compensation:
The typical hiring range for this position is $25 per hour, the hourly rate offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, and internal equity. Extended health and benefits provided.
