The Opportunity
We’re on the lookout for a Senior Data Governance expert who’s ready to be a true champion of data goodness. You’ll be the central person making sure BwB’s most important data isn’t just stored—it’s trusted, high-quality, and ready to power big decisions. In this role, you’ll guide SMEs in data owner and stewardship across multiple domains, helping the organization stick to (and continuously improve) enterprise-wide standards and governance practices. You’re the kind of person who loves building order out of complexity—and making it look easy. You’ll team up with business and tech leaders to shape enterprise data policies, clarify who owns what data, enforce standards, and support major initiatives that depend on rock-solid information. Think of yourself as the data advocate who orchestrates teams, keeping everything clean, consistent, and compliant. How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead enterprise data quality efforts by setting direction, defining quality standards, and driving remediation across key data domains. You’ll dig into root causes, champion upstream fixes, and track the metrics that keep our data healthy and reliable.
- Own BwB’s Data Governance assets, ensuring cataloguing and metrics are relevant and offer real value to the business.
- Advance our data governance framework by analyzing outcomes and advocating for practices to improve ROI . You’ll guide governance initiatives, support audits and risk reviews, and help make sure the data governance team of business and technical users is clear and confident in their mission.
- Act as a strategic partner across business and technology, offering expert advice on data standards, architectural impacts, and change management. You’ll collaborate with teams across engineering, analytics, and operations to ensure new initiatives support long-term data quality and integrity.
- Coach and develop data stewardship capabilities across the organization by mentoring teams, delivering training, and promoting data literacy. You’ll play a key role in building a strong, scalable data culture.
What You Bring to the Table
- 5–7 years of experience in data governance, data management, analytics, or related fields
- Demonstrated experience leading data quality or metadata initiatives, or training business users to fulfil Data Governance roles
- Knowledge of data management frameworks like Data Mesh or governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK) is an asset.
- Certifications such as CDMP, DGSP, or similar are an asset
- Familiarity with SQL, metadata tools, data catalogs, and data quality technology
