Under the general direction of the Bookstore Coordinator, the Assistant Bookstore Coordinator is responsible for the following functions within the campus bookstore:
- Procurement of materials;
- Sales and marketing;
- Shipping, receiving and distribution of materials;
- Inventory control;
- Computer operating systems;
- Customer service, public relations and promotion;
- Assist in training/orientation of bookstore sales positions.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
Specific Accountabilities
Duties
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
- Certificate in marketing, business administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Two years experience in a college or university bookstore or other acceptable bookstore or retail environment that includes:
- knowledge of the textbook publishing industry;
- knowledge of purchasing processes, return policies, shipping and transportation regulations;
- knowledge of retail operations and practices, inventory management, loss prevention and operational controls;
- knowledge of a sophisticated point of sales system.

Working knowledge of general accounting and financial management practices.

Effective interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.

Skill organizing resources, establishing priorities and assisting with the development and implementation of new strategies and procedures.

Ability to use spreadsheets, database, email and word processing.

Ability to maintain accuracy while working under constant and strict deadlines.

Ability to lead, take initiative, motivate, coach, train and coordinate staff.

Demonstrates valuing diversity.
