KEY FUNCTION**:**

Provide efficient and confidential scheduling support to clients, while ensuring day to day clerical work is carried out.

REPORTING**:**

Under the general direction of the Coordinator, Sudbury Cardiac Outpatient Centre.

DUTIES**:**

  • Register patients and schedule appointments using Community Wide Scheduling (CWS) program.

  • Answer enquiries and relay telephone calls and messages.

  • Type and photocopy routine correspondence.

  • Process patient report sheets for respective tests.

  • Retrieve, file patient reports and index patient documentation.

  • Correlate daily out-patient procedures and forward charts to accounting office for billing.

  • Maintain patient register.

  • Order office supplies as required.

  • Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.

  • Participate in hospital training as required.

  • Assist with improvement initiatives as required.

  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent (i.e. General Education Development (GED) or Academic and Career Entrance (ACE)).

  • Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of six (6) months recent relevant experience preferably within Cardiodiagnostics.

  • Recent training or experience with CWS and registration is required.

  • Experience with Meditech Order Entry (OE) is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to register and schedule patients with the CWS program.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency in Medical Terminology.

  • Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 50 w.p.m.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in data entry.

  • Demonstrated computer skills with advanced skills proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and applicable patient information systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare workers.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Demonstrated compliance with HSN’s privacy policy.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.

  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Demonstrated professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
