THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION
The Dietary Worker provides patient support by providing food and nutrition services to patients in a Community Hospital. As part of the team, candidates are part of an organzied service department that provides all essential meals services and snacks to patients. All essential functions and responsibilities as assigned by Aramark.
Job Responsibilities
- Takes and records all temperatures of food and refridgeration as required
- Performance of patient meal portioning and plating
- Delivery and pick up of patient trays in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Ensures accuracy of food items being delivered to the patient and informs patient of meal selection and any therapeutic diet information
- Demonstrates initiative to meet patient needs consistent with patient focused care approach
- Functions comfortably in a fast-paced, institutional kitchen, preparing beverages, desserts, cleaning dishes, washing pots and pans, preparing snack items, cleanup and set up of kitchen
- Maintains friendly, efficient, positive customer service demeanor toward customers, clients, and co-workers.
- Must be adaptable to customer needs.
- Must be adaptable to change.
- Must be adaptable to patient needs
- Preparation of foods for the retail space
- Working in the retail space serving customers
- Food preparation as assigned and required, such as washing produce
- Receiving and putting away all stock using FIFO ensureing all prodcut is labelled and dated
- Replenishing ward stock
- Maintaining a neat and clean environment
- Follows all HACCAP training
- Attentive care and consideration of patient, visitors, staff and client requests
- Displays a polite, spirit-of-service attitude towards customers, and co-workers. Maintains a friendly, efficeint, and responsive attitude towards client and patients while performing duties
- Maintains a safe environment while working
- Maintains the privacy, safety, and dignity of each patient by observing Aramark's confidentiality policy
- Other related duties as required and performs such duties in a safe manner consistent with teh Department goals and mission statement.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Education required
- Must have or be willing to obtain Food Handlers Certificate
- Previous customer service
- Experience in food service, as a dietary clerk, or in a related field preferred
- Needs to communicate fluently in the English language, bilingual or multilingual a plus.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to change.
- Must provide a negative 2 step TB test
- Proficient in written and spoken English
- Understanding of and the ability of basic mathematical calculations
- Manual dexterity required for handling equipment and supplies
- Must have the ability to lift 50lbs
- Must have the ability to stand for 8 hours or more in a day
- Must be available for ON CALL shifts
- Must be available to work afternoons and weekends
