Store Manager - Large Format Flagship
About the role
This is a rare opportunity to lead at scale, shape a flagship retail experience, and help define the future of a growing Canadian organization. Our client is seeking an exceptional large-format retail leader to take the helm of one of the country’s most distinctive and complex retail environments. With more than 100,000 square feet, approximately 300 employees, and significant operational scope, this role offers the chance to build a high-performing team, elevate the customer experience, and create the standards that will guide future locations across Canada.
The successful candidate will be a bold, hands-on leader who is energized by growth, innovation, and the challenge of building something new. They will bring the vision to see what is possible, the discipline to turn that vision into results, and the ability to inspire a large team through change. This is not simply an opportunity to manage a store. It is a chance to lead a flagship, influence a national retail strategy, and leave a lasting mark on the evolution of the business.
Description
Lead all aspects of store operations, ensuring strong performance across sales, service, payroll, inventory, logistics, merchandising, safety, and profitability. Inspire, develop, and engage a large team of approximately 300 employees through clear expectations, visible leadership, coaching, and accountability. Build a customer-first culture that delivers a welcoming, knowledgeable, and consistent experience throughout the store. Oversee high-volume freight flow, receiving, replenishment, inventory accuracy, and back-of-house operations. Partner with senior leadership and support teams to successfully launch and refine the flagship store concept. Establish operating standards, routines, and best practices that can be replicated across future locations. Lead the team through change, growth, and evolving business priorities while maintaining engagement and operational stability. Ensure the store is well organized, fully stocked, appropriately staffed, and consistently ready to serve customers. Analyze business results, identify trends and opportunities, and develop clear action plans to improve performance. Maintain high standards of workplace safety, loss prevention, regulatory compliance, and asset protection. Build a strong leadership bench through recruitment, succession planning, coaching, and ongoing development. Create an inclusive, collaborative environment where employees feel valued, supported, and motivated to contribute.
Requirements
Significant leadership experience within a large-format, high-volume retail operation. Demonstrated success managing a complex location with multiple departments. Experience leading large teams, ideally within an operation of 200 to 300 employees or more. Strong knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, freight flow, logistics, merchandising, payroll, and financial performance. Proven ability to build accountability and consistently deliver operational and customer service results. A hands-on leadership style with the ability to remain highly visible and engaged across the store. Strong business judgment, problem-solving skills, and comfort making decisions in a fast-moving environment. Experience leading through growth, change, store openings, renovations, or operational transformation would be an asset. Background with a major retailer, mass merchant, home improvement business, warehouse-style operation, or similarly complex environment is highly transferable. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate, and align employees at all levels. Flexibility to work a retail schedule based on the needs of the business.
