About the role: Under direction of the Reintegrative Services Director, The Compliance Officer will ensure that our MCCSS Dual Diagnosis programs are operating in full compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and funding requirements. This role is instrumental in supporting service delivery excellence and organizational integrity through proactive monitoring, documentation, and reporting activities. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for implementing compliance frameworks, conducting internal audits, identifying risks, and supporting corrective action plans to meet standards set by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and other regulatory bodies.

As the successful candidate, you have Principal Duties:

Regulatory Compliance & Monitoring:

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to all MCCSS guidelines, service contracts, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct routine internal audits and reviews to assess program and operational compliance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant MCCSS policies and procedures including the Developmental Services Ontario (DSO).
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare and submit compliance-related reports to internal leadership and MCCSS as required.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of findings, corrective actions, and follow-up results.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures to strengthen compliance and service quality.

Training & Capacity Building:

  • Provide compliance training and guidance to front-line staff and management on regulatory obligations and organizational policies.
  • Provide the Safe Management Group Crisis Intervention Training to all front-line staff annually.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Risk Management & Corrective Action:

  • Identify and assess areas of risk, non-compliance, or service gaps.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Track implementation progress and report on effectiveness.

Human Resources:

  • Support the Residential Coordinator in the effective onboarding and training of new employees, volunteers, and students.
  • Ensure and maintain Vulnerable Sector Checks for all employees according to MCCSS standards.
  • In collaboration with Residential Coordinator, ensure compliance with existing and newly developed operational and employee policies, clinical practices and relevant legislative requirements

Safety

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations, proactively managing workplace safety, and promptly addressing employee safety concerns to maintain a secure working environment
  • Coordinate and organize with Service Director any renovations that are required.
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings with Residential Coordinator
  • Complete other functions per Reintegrative Services Director request as required

  • Clinical Approach Consistently applies established clinical approaches—being evidence-based, strengths-based, gender- responsive, and trauma-responsive—in their case work/case management practices.

  • Communication Maintain consistent communication and develop positive relationships with external agencies, collaterals, stakeholders, and other professionals involved with clients. Communicates issues or conflicting opinions with Manager, to provide personal insights into decisions in a positive way.

  • Crisis Intervention/ De-escalation Successfully implementing Crisis Intervention training. Following site protocols. Managing and de- escalating Challenging situations while maintaining client therapeutic relationship.

  • Continuous Improvement Actively participate in program evaluation by completing necessary processes and documentation Applies learning from work experience/trainings/supervision in their work.

  • Living Vision and Values Demonstrates an understanding of local school/business unit’s vision and values, using them as a point of reference where appropriate. Keeps the vision and values at the forefront of personal action.

You’ll also be prepared to

Education: University Degree/College Diploma in the social sciences

Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a residential setting, with MCCSS Compliance knowledge.

Experience in leadership, administration, or coordination

Language: Bilingualism considered an asset
