The Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic works with faculties and service units across the university to provide an outstanding education for SFU students and a productive research environment for faculty, ensuring that operational planning and budgeting is fully integrated across the university and aligns with the university’s academic and strategic mission. The Provost's Office team leads and supports strategic initiatives and drives operational excellence across the Provost portfolio, striving to provide the best support and guidance for our stakeholders inside and outside of the Office of the Provost.

About the Role

The Financial Analyst provides advanced financial analysis, modelling, and decision support to inform university-wide strategic initiatives and priority work led by executive leadership. Reporting to the Director, Planning & Analysis, the Financial Analyst supports the development, evaluation and implementation of complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning academic and administrative portfolios. The role assesses financial implications, risks, and trade-offs, and translates financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights to support institutional planning and executive decision-making. The role supports internal and external reporting requirements by producing clear, credible, decision-ready financial analysis and summaries to inform senior leadership discussions and accountability processes. The role works with highly confidential and sensitive information related to university projects, strategic initiatives, financial planning and employee matters.
