About the role
Summary
At Atlantic Poultry Incorporated (API) we are committed to feeding our communities through stewardship of the land and animals in our care to inspire the next generation of Atlantic Canadian Farmers. API is a proud supporter of the poultry industry, providing feed, chicks, and fresh eggs year around to our customers throughout Atlantic Canada.
The Egg Collector is responsible for gathering eggs on a regular basis. The Egg Collector will work as part of the team ensuring the company’s animal husbandry practices are followed. They will maintain accurate daily records of egg production and other relevant information as well as ensuring the egg room is kept clean and tidy. We have different barn locations, the egg collector is going to be in the barn assigned.
Schedule
This is a full-time position working on average 40 hours a week, 7:30am – 4:00pm, rotational weekends. Some holiday work required as well as alarm call-ins.
Major Duties
- Gather eggs
- Maintain accurate daily records
- Cleaning the barns
- Protect the organization’s value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential
- Practice bio security protocol
- Follow all safety processes and procedures
- All other duties as assigned
Position Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent preferred

Ability to work with live poultry

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Experience in the livestock industry preferred

Strong commitment to health & safety

Pleasant, outgoing personality, with a friendly positive approach to customer service

Problem solving skills
Working Conditions
The position operates in a barn setting - dusty at times with strong odours, exposure to cold in winter months and heat in summer months, working alone, and repetitive work. Standing for long periods of time is common.
